Super Seb’s winning spree
Three golf triumphs in four days – schoolboy Sebastian Minors is having a summer holidays to remember!
The Norfolk County Golf Union 12-year-old began his hat-trick heroics by beating his elders in the historic Penn Cup at Royal Norwich Golf Club.
Town Close pupil Sebastian eased to a three-point victory in the men’s Stableford competition, which was first played more than a century ago.
Two days later and his winning ways were to the fore in the Bawburgh Junior Open. Sebastian took the handicap prize thanks to a net score of 66.
And the following day he capped an incredible run of form with a double success at the Mattishall Junior Open.
Sebastian, whose handicap index has now come down to 11.6, won the scratch and handicap prizes with a brilliant six-over par round of 76, which also equated to a net 62.
He puts his hot streak down to a recent putting lesson with Eaton-based PGA professional Chase Davis – and also having a strong mindset.
“I just think really positively,” said Sebastian, who has featured in Norfolk’s Under-12 and Under-14 squads.
He has played golf since the age of five and is coached at Royal Norwich by professional Lloyd Jones.
