norfolk County Team Selection

The overall strategy and objective of this process is to search and select players with longevity, skill and commitment to develop the individual players to perform and play for the County. This process is not about alienating individuals but promoting their talents in accordance with a professional process.

All players will fully understand how they will be selected for the Teams and as importantly, why they are not selected or considered. The County Union will adopt a more traditional and fair approach to the team selection process by implementing the following criteria and considerations with a clear view and pathway to County representation.

It is vital that the selection process includes and considers everyone who wishes to be selected for the County and posted to all clubs throughout the County.

For all Norfolk County Golf Union teams, the relevant Performance Committee and/or Selection Panel will select what in its reasonable judgement is the team or individual, who is available to compete with distinction at a specific venue or in a specific style of competition (ie match or stroke play) taking into account the following selection tools (in no particular order):

  1. National Performances
  2. Norfolk OOM
  3. Club Performances
  4. Current Handicap
  5. Golf based statistics
  6. Stroke averages
  7. Performances in relevant events
  8. Commitment
  9. Players Development & Improvement
  10. Willingness to Learn
  11. Future Potential
