Webb masters windy conditions to win OOM
Bawburgh member Robert Webb won the season’s first Order of Merit, held at Great Yarmouth & Caister GC.
The conditions were challenging for the field of 68, mainly due to a strong easterly wind blowing across the links course and temperatures that dipped later in the afternoon.
Webb’s excellent round of 76 gross saw him win the scratch event by just 1 shot from Matthew Bacon (Royal Cromer), Brandon Hobley (Bawburgh) and Dan Palmer (Sprowston Manor).
In the handicap competition, it was again Webb who came out on top with a nett 70, 1 shot clear of Luke Johnson (Royal Norwich) and 2 ahead of Peter Allott (Thetford).
The County thanks our Great Yarmouth & Caister GC for hosting this event.
OOM points are awarded for the best 10 scores in each event, and count towards the final OOM tables and the Matchplay finals later in the year.
