Sprowston Manor crowned Cullington Cup winners

Sprowston Manor were the winners of this season’s Cullington
Cup following a superb 6-2 victory over Eaton and claiming the trophy for the
second time in three years.

Royal Norwich GC was the host for the final and both teams
played the match in the best of competitive spirit.

Sprowston came out on top in both the morning and afternoon foursomes,
with the pairing of Stuart Jarrett and Joe Barratt the most successful in securing
two wins.

David Fullegar, vice-captain at Sprowston Manor and non-playing
captain of their Cullington team, expressed his pride in the team’s performance
with every player contributing to a dominant display on the course.

Fullegar commented: “I was incredibly proud to able to captain this team to an outstanding victory. This could not have been achieved without the help of Karl Diggens and Graham Street who both stepped in to guide the team during earlier rounds because of my unexpected medical absence.

“However the real plaudits should be directed towards the squad of players, as their hard work, determination, will to win and genuine pride in representing Sprowston Manor GC made our jobs very simple. We only had to write 8 names on to a team sheet, they had to win the matches and it was a privilege to be associated with the victory.

“Myself, Karl & Graham would like to thank all of the caddies and supporters who followed us through every round. Their support is always hugely appreciated. We look forward to defending the trophy next season.”

Norfolk County Golf Union president Stuart Goddard was on hand to congratulate both teams on reaching the final and to present the trophy to the winning captain.
