Sheringham completed a successful defence of their Norfolk Seniors Scratch title as they swept aside Royal Norwich at King’s Lynn Golf Club.
Last year’s champions triumphed 4.5-0.5 across a format comprising one foursomes tie and four head-to-heads.
In the lead match, Sheringham duo Neil Milton and Paul Sennett lost the opening hole but pulled level at the next and never trailed thereafter.
In command at the turn, they powered to a 5&3 success to set the tone on a breezy afternoon, in which there were a couple of sharp showers.
The first singles match saw an equally comfortable victory margin as Paul Hendrick overcame Adrian Myhill 5&4.
Steve Dunsire looked on course for a similar sort of result as he moved 5-up on Graeme Johnson early in the back nine. But the Royal Norwich golfer rallied before going down 2&1.
Sheringham registered further success with Jon Batten easing to a 5&4 win over fellow Norfolk Seniors team-mate Simon Tilbrook.
The last match on the course saw an almighty tussle between Mark Williamson and Geoff Roff, who held the upper hand for large parts.
Roff won the 17th to go 1-up and give Royal Norwich hope of a consolation point, but Williamson’s fine drive and sweetly-struck approach to the last green ensured the match finished all-square.
Sheringham’s non-playing captain Gary Brayshaw said: “It’s great that we’ve been able to defend our title – and to win the final in a convincing manner.
“We played some really good golf throughout the tournament and it was fitting that each team member contributed to our points tally in the final.”
