DP World Tour professional Jack Yule returned to his roots to give Norfolk County Golf Union juniors a masterclass at his home club King’s Lynn.
Yule progressed through the county ranks in his teenage years and is a two-time Norfolk Amateur champion.
Last autumn he made it through Qualifying School in Spain to earn the right to play on the DP World Tour for the first time.
Before Christmas he played three events, one of which was the Australian Open at Royal Melbourne where Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott were among the star names.
Yule is due to return to tour golf in the next couple of weeks but took time out to host nine Norfolk juniors aiming to follow in his footsteps.
First he gave them an insight into his career with a Q and A session, talking about a variety of subjects including his approach to elite golf and equipment.
Next he provided a few thoughts as the boys went through some drills on the practice range.
After that, it was time for the golf course where Yule played a few holes with three separate three-balls.
Yule, 31, said: “I’m glad I could help. It’s nice to see some talent coming through.”
The county juniors thoroughly enjoyed the chance to walk the fairways alongside Yule on the excellent King’s Lynn lay-out.
Norfolk County Golf Union development officer Sammy Martin said: “For our young golfers to tee up alongside Jack and understand how he has progressed from junior county player to DP World Tour professional is truly inspiring for them.
“The generosity he showed towards the boys is commendable considering his busy schedule. Also, I would like to extend a big thank you to King’s Lynn Golf Club for welcoming us”
Yule’s next start on the DP World Tour is likely to be the Qatar Masters at Doha Golf Club on Feb 5-8.
There is a chance he may get into the previous week’s Bahrain Championship. If not, he is also eying up a Challenge Tour event in South Africa in the final days of January.
Offering his first inside-the-ropes impressions on international tour golf, Yule added: “The courses are a little different to what I’m used to. I’ve got to learn quite quickly how to deal with things, crowds. Players are not an issue. It’s enjoyable to watch as well – there’s some good golf.”
