NORFOLK golfer Jack Yule has this week earned himself a crack at the DP World Tour after battling through Qualifying School in Spain.
The King’s Lynn golfer showed skill, guts and stamina during the six-round ‘Final Stage’ marathon at Infinitum Golf in Tarragona.
He made the 72-hole cut with a bit to spare before playing some of the best golf of his life over the final two days.
With the top-20 and ties guaranteed playing privileges on the 2026 DP World Tour, Yule was sat in a share of 27th place ahead of the closing round.
But the former Norfolk county golf star powered into the mix with a brilliant six-under-par performance to sign off for the six days at 19-under-par.
That left Yule in a share of 12th spot, bound for a shot at the big time.
It will be the first time Norfolk has had a regular DP World Tour representative since Dereham’s Andrew Marshall played on the circuit a decade ago.
Yule’s first event is set to be the BMW Australian PGA Championship at Royal Brisbane on November 27-30.
Yule, 31, said: “I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet. I want to keep pushing and pushing. The way I’d like to deal with this is, ‘Great, you’ve had a good result, now go again’. That’s basically how I feel.”
He did admit to sharing an emotional post-tournament call with his father Iain, the former Norfolk county captain.
Yule said: “I rang my dad and had a tear-up. I think it was more of a ‘I’m so glad this is over with’. Six rounds is a bit too much for my little legs.”
In fact, he went away to Spain in late October to tee up at the Second Stage of Qualifying School, held at Golf Las Pinaillas.
There he claimed a top-five finish and moved onto Infinitum Golf to compete against even higher-class opposition, a list of whom had DP World Tour victories to their name.
Yule survived a couple of serious setbacks, including having to call a two-stroke penalty on himself for playing the first hole of his second round with one too many clubs in the bag.
But he just grew stronger as the week unfolded, culminating in a dazzling display to get the job done.
On the final day Yule packed in seven birdies, including three on the spin around the turn.
A stunning five-iron to six-feet set up another gain at the par-3 14th hole and he closed out with a further birdie on the 18th.
Yule said: “It was my first time at Final Stage – it was a great experience, I really enjoyed it.
“I was just doing all the simple things well. I holed out very well from three, four feet, which I think is massive in this game.”
Immediately after his achievement, Yule was inundated with congratulatory messages and joked: “It’s been mayhem!”
He also expressed gratitude to people from Norfolk who have helped him on his way.
Indeed David Woolley, part of the professionals’ team at Hunstanton Golf Club, spoke with him on the eve of the final round.
From the Norfolk golfing community, Yule also acknowledged the support of Mike Devlin (former Norfolk County Golf Union president) and David and Margo Horsbrugh, who have done so much for schools’ golf.
