Norfolk’s two men’s teams experienced hard-fought defeats in their respective closing fixtures against Lincolnshire.
The first team split the foursomes 2-2 at Great Yarmouth & Caister GC, but the visitors took control in the afternoon singles ties.
Even so, Ben Willis and Scott Wright both added to their morning successes by claiming further wins on the day. Brandon Hobley also secured a half-point in the singles before Lincolnshire emerged 7½ – 4½ victors.
Teenager Liam Caffyn was the star of the second team, who went down narrowly 7-5 to their Lincolnshire counterparts at Stoke Rochford GC.
Caffyn, 14, was making his men’s county debut and followed up a morning 5&4 win in partnership alongside Callum Rana with a thumping 7&6 singles success!
Matt Strudwick also had a crushing singles win, but overall Lincolnshire had the better of the afternoon play and ended up as the 2024 second-team table-toppers.
With the curtain falling on the Anglian League season, Chris White announced that he would be stepping down as first-team captain.
Chris has worked tirelessly throughout the season and, as so often in recent seasons, played some fine golf along the way.
MANY THANKS Chris, for all your hard work and efforts.
