Norfolk County Seniors teed off their season opener in fine style, in a new friendly fixture against a Norfolk PGA team.
Played over the superbly presented course at Sheringham Golf Club, both teams made light of the breezy, chilly wind and fast running greens.
The game was played from scratch, with many holes exchanged with birdies, none more so than County new boy William Beeson, who bagged 7 on his debut.
Last years Seniors’ captain and stalwart Iain Reid rolled in a 50ft birdie put to secure a halved match against Few & Patterson. However, and not to be outdone, in the next match Mark Allen returned the favour for the Pro’s with a 60ft putt for birdie against Williamson & Stapleton also to secure a half.
The Seniors introduced 4 new players into the team who all acquitted themselves well.
Respective captain’s Gary Brayshaw & Michael Few agreed the game was played in great spirit, and it will hopefully become a firm fixture as a season opener for both sides.
The Seniors are next in action in another friendly match against the King’s Lynn Myhill Team on Sunday 6th April.
Result: Seniors beat PGA 3-2 (Seniors names first)
Paul Hendrick & Iain Reid halved with Michael Few & Lee Patterson

Ady Myhill & David Coats lost 4&3 to Mitch Smith & Charlie Bright
